#day7 #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #MyStory : My Reflection

 #day7

#BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

Diagnosed July 2016: A recount of #mystory to help spread awareness.
I have had a stream of questions come in asking for me to go further into what to look for. I wanted to share some of the common things that could indicate something you should look into.

Every month you should self examine your breasts as well as LOOK at yourself in the mirror! This really saved my life! (exact mirror shown in pic below.. taken at our cottage at the lake)
Here are some key signs to check for:
  1. Changes in Skin Texture: Look for puckering or dimpling resembling an orange peel.
  2. Lumps and Thickening: Know your normal feel to detect any new lumps or areas of thickness.
  3. Swelling: Check your armpit and collarbone for swelling, as they contain breast tissue.
  4. Unusual Pain: Monitor for constant, unexplained breast or armpit pain.
  5. Nipple Discharge: Be aware of any liquid coming from the nipple without squeezing.
  6. Sudden Size or Shape Change: Note any unusual or sudden changes in size or shape.
  7. Nipple Inversion: Look for changes in nipple position or shape.
  8. Rash or Crusting: Check for irritation, redness, or crusting around the nipple area.

This list is just not inclusive of every possible warning sign but a good start. Not all breast cancer has warning signs. Get your mammograms!!! Early detection might save your life.
In the image below I had dimpling, thickening of the skin and new shape and size on the right side.
Here is a really good visual of things to look for:

Feel free to share my story, reach out with any questions or read my blog to catch up on my daily share of my breast cancer story.

Head over to #day4 where I share more on my personal warning signs as well.
